Skyline Acres Synchro Team is a member of the Rocky Mountain Summer Synchro League, which consists of five clubs, including Skyline, Crestmoor Community Association, Fort Collins Synchro, Central Park Stingrays, and Virginia Vale Swim Club.  Our team works with kids ages 5-19 to improve their technique while building strong bonds with their teammates under the direction of head coach, Johanna Jaquith and several assistant coaches. Swimmers work together at practices, encourage each other at meets, and have a blast at team social events throughout the summer. The competitive season runs from after Memorial Day to the end of July.

How does the Synchronized Swim Team compete?

In 2024, there will be 3 meets where swimmers perform and are judged on 4 figures. The term “figures” refers to a single swimmer demonstrating a specific move in front of a panel of judges who score them.

Finally, there is a 4th and final 2-day State Meet in late July where swimmers perform 2 choreographed swimming routines.The judges use the US Synchronized Swimming handbook for scoring skills or a series of skills (routines). Swimmers compete against others in their age group and/or ability. The top swimmers are acknowledged with ribbons at the end of every meet.

What about the fancy hair & costumes?

Swimmers dress up for only 2 performances, the Water Show and the State Meet. Think about ballet or a gymnastics meet. Dancers and Gymnasts always dress for the stage and/or competition. Synchronized swimmers do the same thing. This is when swimmers wear costumes that complement their routine. These athletes are judged not just on their compulsory element skills but also the artistry of the performance. SKILL + MUSIC + ARTISTIC MERIT = high scores!

• Members register on CASA.
• Registration and payment of fees begins on April 1 and must be complete by April 30.
• USA Artistic Swimming (formerly USA Synchro) membership at the $50 Athlete level is required to participate on the team.
• Team registration includes awards at meets, Skyline t-shirt, championship meet entry fee and terrific coaching by our Skyline coaching staff.

Pre-season practice schedule is not yet final. Dates TBD.

Regular season practices will be Monday – Thursday from June 6th – July 22nd.

Intermediate swimmers will practice Monday through Thursday 4:00 – 5:30 pm and night practices beginning in late June.

Novice swimmers will practice Monday through Thursday 8:30 – 9:30 am, and some afternoons as needed.

Night practice will be scheduled for select intermediate swimmers Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from June 24 through July 22 from 7 pm to 10 pm. (Night practice attendance expected for age groups 14-15 & 16-19. Age groups 10-11 & 12-13 subject to coach approval and needs of individual routines.)

Weekend practice time may be scheduled for select intermediate swimmers on the weekends in the early morning. Dates TBD.
